Presidential Election, 2012

Monday 30 April 2012

Recommendations to Candidates in the Presidential Elections 2012 and Responses Received

The Collective "Together against Trafficking in Human Beings" was created in 2006 to fight effectively as a network against all forms of trafficking in human beings for the purposes of, for example, sexual exploitation, forced labour, trafficking for the organ trade, and forced begging. The Collective brings together twenty-three French organisations, which are engaged directly or indirectly with victims in France, with other destination countries and with the countries of origin of victims of human trafficking. Determined to combat the commercialisation of the person, it mobilised with two objectives: to create greater public awareness of this complex issue and to encourage French and European political leaders to address these crimes.

The Collective used the 2012 presidential elections as an opportunity to examine French political leaders on the subject of human trafficking. Four recommendations to combat trafficking in human beings were sent to each election candidate.

These recommendations, and the responses received by the Collective, are available below (in French only).
