Trafficking in human beings is a phenomenon...

Tuesday 16 September 2014

Trafficking in human beings is a phenomenon which continues to expand worldwide, without respect to geographic borders, culture, age, or sex and which occurs often in the context of organized crime.

The Collective “Together Against Trafficking in Human Beings,” (hereafter, ‘the Collective’), was founded to fight combat this menace which denies the fundamental human rights of victims, and to rally political leaders to become involved in the fight against human trafficking.

This fight must include the protection of and respect for the rights of victims, in the framework of international cooperation which mobilises those who work in this domain, in both the private and public sectors. It must also prioritise the adoption of measures aimed at sanctioning those responsible for trafficking.

The members of the Collective are in agreement that combatting trafficking in human beings, in recognition of its complex and global nature, must, in order to be effective, be collaborative and global in vision.
